The second installment of this 10-part series “SPACE 2 PLAY” features Maui native and Sanuk youngblood, MATT MEOLA. Mr. Meola burst onto the worldwide surfing scene back in 2011 when he took home the first place finish in Taylor Steele’s INNERSECTION video contest. Known mostly for his progressive aerial variations on wafer size sticks, Matt isn’t scared to switch it up. Last year, he was a finalist for the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards for his paddle in at JAWS, a wave that nearly took his life.
Nevertheless, Matt is one of the most positive, creative, and humble individuals in the game right now. In this episode of the SPACE 2 PLAY SERIES, Matt gets ambushed by some acid-trippin-hippies, he gives us a tour of both his shaper’s factory and his own digs, and showcases some of his raw talent at his home-break on Maui. Stay tuned…things get weird…in a good way.
