It’s clear to see that Dannys a natural, displaying a seemingly effortless ability to find rhythm and style. Get to know our new iconic Sanuk ambassador and learn a bit more about him on and off the mountain!

  1. Where are you from and at what age did you get in snowboarding?
Since I was about 7 or 8 I have been standing on sleds and various things going sideways down some hills. But it wasn’t until somewhere around 10 years old that I got into it. First board with metal edges was 10
  1. What aspects of snowboarding are you most drawn to today? The filming? Backcountry? Community? And Why?
Well, I watch almost everything. I love watching the video parts that various riders are putting out. Jibs, freeriding, ladies, men’s, it’s all very entertaining to me. I love watching contests, more so than I like doing them at this point. Freeriding is my focus right now. Being a kid from Michigan, I have a lot to learn, and it is so fun.
  1. Can you describe the most memorable day you’ve experienced while snowboarding? If not, a day that sticks out to you.
It’s so hard to put a “most memorable” on it. I have so many that are so memorable for so many different reasons. Some that were carefree and easy successes, some that were hard fought and memorable for that reason. Denali and Some X games stick out though. Just surreal moments that felt so uncomfortable but incredibly satisfying.
  1. If you could organize a dream snowboard trip anywhere in the world, what would it entail? Where haven’t you been?
I have been trying to imagine that myself before reading this. Alaska seems to be the place that is unlike any other in regards to terrain. Perhaps a camping trip, set in a zone with all types of terrain and some great weather to utilize all the various features. Lines, jump landings, spines, cruisers, all of it. Hunker down for a bit and stack some footy.
  1. What’s your favorite après-shred activity to unwind after a long day on the riding the mountain miracle?
Hanging with our new little girl Posey.
  1. What activities are you into outside of snowboarding?
I like sports. Surf when I can, skate here and there. Golf a bit. Hike and climb and camp.
  1. Some favorite music artists at the moment?
[I’ve] been on a Van Morrison kick for a while. The Gabriel’s are another band I’ve been turned onto. Tommy Guerrero, and whatever catchy hip hop the younger kids are blasting.
  1. If you could only ride one mountain for the rest of your life, which one would it be, and why?
That would be a shame if you could only ride one. But I suppose it would be the Donner area. Lots to choose from around there and has great access for walking around.
  1. If you were to design your own Sanuk shoe, what unique features would you include?
Good footbeds, some sort of Vibram® sole for grippy needs. Waterproof, and somewhat lightweight.
  1. Favorite Sanuk Shoe for before and after snowboarding?
    THE PUFFY CHILLER MID
  1. If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring young snowboarders, what would it be?
Snowboard as much as you can and hone in on some discipline of snowboarding that inspires you to learn more and get as good as you can at it.
